Chaowapong Jarasvaraparn, MD

Chaowapong (Chao) Jarasvaraparn, MD graduated from Medical School at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. He completed his Pediatric Residency training at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Most recently, he graduated from the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Chao will continue his training with us for a fourth year as our new Pediatric Transplant Hepatology fellow. His research interests include pediatric NAFLD, post pediatric liver transplantation and Fontan-associated liver disease. Currently, he is working on a basic science research project, the effect of a Novel Mitochondrial Pyruvate Carrier Inhibitor in a mouse model of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. His current clinical research is describing neutropenia in post liver transplantation and thromboelastographic study in pediatric chronic liver and non-chronic liver disease prior to liver transplantations. In his spare time, Chao enjoys going to the gym, playing tennis, hanging out with friends, traveling, and drinking good coffee and local brews around the St. Louis area.
